Serendipity 3

A sweet, sweet movie that I love is Serendipity - so I have been meaning to try its namesake, Serendipity 3 in the Upper East Side. This morning I skipped breakfast supper excited about trying the place out despite mixed reviews about the food (withstanding the famous Frozen hot chocolate.)

An hour wait for our table was well worth it. Even R who had not seen the movie and was not to be convinced by the hype was more than impressed. I'm sure there will be lots more coming in his foodies blog.

The decor was charming. White cane chairs with tables arranged in the fashion of a tea party. Chairs, puppets, stained glass lamps and other interesting pieces hung from the ceiling. Gigantic menus and meals to match. Mirrors, hats and paintings cluttered the walls. It was all very cute.

The frozen chocolate easily earned its trademark status.... best bit was how it came over flowing. Looked and tasted amazing. Even though I usually don't like cream I couldn't help but finish every bite. It was delicious. If you ever go don't try and pace yourself. Stopping only makes you give up sooner! Right R?

After lunch (chili burgers for E and I while R went with the foot long hotdog) I didn't think I'd ever eat again... until I saw the dessert menu ("Have you hit your wall yet?" our waiter asked). OK, maybe a dessert to share... that way R can get come extra pics. We went for the fruit salad sundae and hardly made a dent in it. Still worth the order. A fantastic last meal (because now, 5 hours later, I still never plan on eating again!)
